Getting started with Regenesis Stem Cell Center is as easy as a phone call! We will need to set up an appointment so Dr. Lee can review a medical and social history, discuss symptoms and concerns the patient has, review any imaging that is available for the areas of concern and determine if the patient is a candidate for stem cell therapy.

Initial Appointment

This appointment typically lasts one hour for the in depth and thorough review of all necessary information. If labs or new imaging are needed, these can be ordered at this appointment.

Pre-Operative Appointment

If the patient is determined to be a good candidate for stem cell therapy, the next step is the pre-operative appointment. At this time, all pre-operative and post-operative instructions will be reviewed, prescriptions will be written, labs and imaging will be reviewed once again and a non-refundable deposit will be placed to hold the chosen procedure day. All consents will be signed and all questions and concerns will be addressed.

Stem Cell Therapy Procedure

On the day of the procedure, the patient will be instructed to eat a light breakfast before coming to the office. Once the patient has arrived, we will administer oral sedatives and ensure the patient is comfortable in the procedure room. During the bone marrow aspiration, comfort will be of upmost importance during and after the procedure. Many patients are able to relax or even sleep during either of the procedures. After the aspiration of stem cells, the lab technician will begin the intensive and rigorous processing of the bone marrow and plasma. This processing typically takes 2-3 hours during which the patient will be able to relax comfortably and have a visitor present if he or she wishes.

Once the stem cells have been concentrated, we will prepare the patient for injection. The site can be numbed for comfort and the injection is ultrasound guided to ensure proper placement within certain joints. The length of time for the injection process depends on the locations and number of injections, but typically only lasts 20-30 minutes. After the injections, the patient is escorted by wheelchair to his personal vehicle and is able to go home and resume normal daily activity. There is no downtime, no inability to use the joint or limb and no long rehabilitation stay.

Follow-Up Process

Regenesis has an extensive follow up process for our stem cell patients that includes numerous phone consultations, occasional physical therapy consults, post-operative appointments in the office and follow up imaging, labs or tests in some instances.

For our out of town patients, the majority of our process can be done over the telephone. The medical and social history, symptoms of concern and candidacy can be discussed with our staff and physician during a phone consultation. If there are imaging or labs to review, they can be sent electronically or physically prior to the phone consultation. In the instances where imaging or labs are needed, we can order them in the city of choice to facilitate the screening of candidacy. If accepted for candidacy, a physical exam will be done upon arrival prior to the stem cell therapy procedure.

Finding Our Clinic

Regenesis is located just 15 minutes from Huntsville International Airport and our staff can assist in any lodging questions you may have. Ideally, out of town patients would be available the day prior to their stem cell procedure for examinations and a personal meeting with Dr. Lee.
